Check engine light - 99 Impreza
Looking for any info on
a) retrieving b) resetting the trouble code. Found some information at troublecodes.net but looking for something more specific to my model/year, i.e. detailed instructions, preferably pictures, of where the connectors can be found, etc. thanks. |

Re: Check engine light - 99 Impreza
the connection for the diagnostic computer is right in front of your left knee cap there is a little flap you open then plug it is, try resetting the computer by disconnecting the negative terminal for 10 minutes then put it back on, it will reset sometimes the gas cap might not be tight enough and it throws a code, also in the winter the MAF (mass air flow) sensor can be really picky...these simple thing will be reset when unplugging the terminal, if the check engine light comes back on go to a local autozone to get the code then tell us here what the code is, i know a fair amount myself and i know some other people on here that do as well, sometimes the simplest thing can cost like 90 bucks just to have subaru tell you whats wrong

Re: Re: Check engine light - 99 Impreza
Thanks. The light went out by itself later the same day. This was the first time I've ever seen it, have had the car since new, but only 45K.
If it comes on again I'll get on over to my local AutoZone. I figured any trip to the dealer would be expensive unless it pointed to a failed emissions component still under warranty. |
