Just some heads up on my recent 269k repairs. Got the new timing chain, front seal and harmonic balancer installed. Decided while having it apart that far I would attempt to change out the rear main seal and pan gasket. All went well. On my 2WD model I didn't even have to jack up the front of the engine! Even the rear main cap bearing still looked nice after all these miles. It took me several hours but I was also messing with the timing stuff too. I bet that if I were only doing the rear seal and pan gasket that I could have it done in 1 hour. It was easy!
One thing to mention - I bought all my parts from the dealer and they seemed to be better quality than the original parts I took off. The parts man told me it is common for Jeep to "upgrade" thier parts which was plenty fine with me. Drove a couple hundred miles now and not a drip, drop or smudge of oil. Couldn't be happier!
