tranny problem

Hi,
I need some help.

I just replaced the heater core on my 1991 525i.

When we re-connected the battery, the key was in the ignition (in the on position).

The car wouldn't turn over (even though there's power) with the key,
there didn't seem to be any power @ the starter relay. In order to start the car with the key, we ran a jumper wire from fuse 17 to the starter relay (pin # 8?), & now it starts w/ the key.

Also, the transmission's electronics seem to be out of wack,
the dash display is blank, sometimes in P it shows 2, in N it shows 3, & in D it is blank. The transmisison shifts hard, and it feels like the tourque converter is in lock up when I stop. Also, it feels like it's in 2nd or 3rd gear when it should be in 1st.

This seems to be an electrical problem, maybe a swich, or something needs to be reset? Possibly a "Trans Program" problem?

The plug next to the shifter is connected, what could be the problem / solution??

Finally the SRS light blinks / on, & won't go off. The orange plug under the dash is connected.
