Shock question, Bilstein's n' stuff

This is probably a FNG question, rolleyes: but I have to ask it directly, I'm new, and pretty confused.

I want to get some new shocks, but all I'll be doing to my suspension for a little while is install some AAL's and crank the torsion's (till I can afford the rest of the lift) Does anyone have this set up?

If so? What brand of shocks are you running? How do they perform? and what are the part #'s?

Thanks for your time!

A simple search

A simple search in Xterra Part Numbers turned up the numbers for Bilstiens: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t3242.html
I will say that most/majority are using Bilstien shocks, others are using Rancho and a few are using OME (Old Man Emu).

Are you going to be adding a winch/ARB, Sliderz, Skid plates, or any other things that will increase the weight of the truck you should get the +20% Bilstiens. If you are going to lift get the longer ones! SLR http://www.spencerlowracing.com/suspension.htm is the best place to buy Bilstiens from. You tell them what you plan to do and they will order you the correct ones!

Most people crank there torsion bars when they add AALs. You'll have to do a little fender trimming too if your adding any tire 31" or bigger.

I don't have any of the extra weight things yet (except my gut) and no lift, so I put the Bilstein 10% stiffer OEM-length in the front and the 20% stiffer, longer ones in the back (for compatibility with future lift). My ride is smooooth like butter, much improved over stock.

OK, things are becoming clearer! I'm definatly calling SLR! I wanted to wait on the ProComp's (MX6) but when I called the company they said Xterra's weren't on the list of trucks they'll fit....too bad they looked interesting...Looks like I'm going with the Stein's!

Thanks again for the help ya'll!
