Exclamation Blown Hose

My bypass valve recirculation hose was just replaced 2 days before I took the car off the road in late december. It must have been cracked since I bought the car in October 2004 due to the loud BOV like sound coming from it. I know that it looses power to have the air let loose in to the atmosphere instead of rerouted into the intake tract but how much power do you loose? Because I didnt notice a difference when I drove it fixed. Granted I only drove it for a few hours. Does the ECU Change on its own or do i have to reset something? I was thinking maybe it takes a little while to get used to the change of having that air back. All i know is that the car doesnt feel that fast, it feels like it should be much faster , Its stock minus Rims and tires and K & N Filter that needs to be cleaned.

Re: Blown Hose

If you only had a crack in that pipe, it probably is not that big of a deal. That pipe is metal and I can't imagine how it was cracked?!

At any rate, filters need to be clean. A dirty filter is going to rob a healthy amount of air and engiens are basically air pumps.

One of the single biggest places turbo MR2s lose power is from worn ignition components. They have been shown to be down as much as 35 rwhp just from bad wires.

If you have not done them in a while, I would suggest getting new TOYOTA, cap, rotor, wires and plugs.

Re: Blown Hose

Thanks, My wires are from 2002 but i was planing on doing them anyway as i did not put them in. The hose im talking about is about 4 inches long and is rubber or some other material and the crack was about 2.5-3 inches long loud enough that you can hear it from another car while driving. It's the hose that doesnt go directly into the intake tract but sort of supplies that line you follow ill try to get a pic.
