FYI: Root cause of blower motor, fan setting problems. Water on passenger floor?
Just a FYI, this is not apply to all situations.
If your blower motor has stoped working, or your fan settings only works on high this might be the root problem. If you fan settings don't work on anything but high or the 2nd highest, it's because you resistor is blown. The resistor might have blown because it came into contact with water. If your blower motor stops working and you pull the old one out and it's rusted on the top, it more than likely came into contact from water. If you passenger floor is wet, and you have no idea where it came from? I'll tell you, there is a small rubber seal, maybe a foot, foot and a half in length that is underneath the air dam where the windshield wipers are. This small rubber seal diverts rainwater away from the heater intake. It is a common problem for this runner seal to fall off and sit uselessly under the air dam and allow rain water to fall directly onto your blower motor, resistor and then onto your passenger floor. It's a relatively easy fix. First, you must remove your windshield wipers. Second, remove the air dam. Third, on the passenger side locate the rubber seal and silicone it back into place so it never falls off again. The seal is located under the air dam where the red line is on the attached picture. http://webpages.charter.net/fiver/PICT0704.JPG Last edited by Intigue; 02-04-2005 at 09:09 AM. |
