"We lost control cause the dirt"

No, you lost control because you shifted into 2nd from 7000rpm in 3rd, thus locking up the wheels. Better luck next time.

That never happened to me, why would it lock the wheels? I would think that the engine speed would jump to 10k rpms, and as soon as he realizes it, he would just press in the clutch, and it would be fine.

"What is Heel & Toe?

This technique requires that the engine be momentarily revved during the downshift whilst the clutch is depressed and the gear lever is passed through the neutral plane. This has the effect of matching the car's engine speed to that of the road wheels when the lower gear is selected, this prevents driveline snatch, which could result in the wheels locking."

You would think he would press in the clutch, but I don't think he's the keenest driver...

Re: Shifting 101

hahah, fucking n00b!

Did ya hear that cannon exhaust? fully sik!

Heep; thanks for that, do you have a link?
I got into a "discussion" with a few of my friend about that on why you rev the engine up while downshifting, and they said you're not suppose to, when I was pretty sure it was optional and it was better for the engine.

Re: Shifting 101

I tend to rev on downchanges when things get enthusiastic. Try to match what it would be after I engage the clutch. Minimises wear.
