Engine Potential?
Yes, I know the 4G63-T engines have ALOT of potential, but one of my Toyota buddies told, just now, that the 3S-GTE engine from a...90-94? MR2 Turbo or a Celica All-Trac???(dunno, but should be close) has just the same amount of "potential" a 4g63 engine has. Almost any turbo car, i know you can have potential just by BC, air filter, pipings and FMIC, but is it tru that the 3SGTE or the 3S-GE motor (stock vs stock) has the same potential as a 4g63T motor? well, if you guys dont really understand, ill write again...THANKS!

Re: Engine Potential?
4g63 engines have claimed to push 400 horses with stock internals.
Not too familiar with the toyota engines though |

Re: Engine Potential?
I don't believe MR2 or Celica all-trac motors can claim 500 hp stock block and internals performance like the 4g63 can. However, putting 300 hp out in a car that only weighs 2600 lbs. makes its potential grow fast

Re: Engine Potential?
Stock 3SGTE's in the MR2 have gone over 500 rwhp.
I'm currently at 200,222 miles on my original, unopened 3SGTE (documented). I put down 351 rwhp and I have done: over 120 passes on the drag strip, 20+ dyno pulls, 3 SCCA Solo 1 hill climb races, 5+ SCCA Autocrosses and lots of abusive street driving. I'm currently racing at 24.5 psi of boost. 100% original engine ![]() ... I should be at 425~450 rwhp by Spring. You need to lose a bunch of weight to get the MR2 to 2600 lbs though. They are 2800-3050lbs from the factory depending on options.

Re: Engine Potential?
How would eclipse people know about MR2 capabilities? The record I've heard is ~550whp on a stock 7 bolt 1g block. This is the one that was a few months ago on the DSMlink forums. Did you mean a built motor? shep should be well over 800whp now, and who knows how much rau and buschur have... 1200 flywheel? bench dyno at the least. Why all these theoretical questions?

Re: Engine Potential?
I dont know if you were talking to me but the one I saw that made 524whp was a 96 GSX and had the stock motor in it with cams and the apropreate bolt-ons necessary to make that power. Nice ass car!

Re: Engine Potential?
That was on a stock 7 bolt block?? Just imagine what the 6 bolt can do then. Sure people say it can handle 400hp, but that is a little more than that!!!
