Muting the radio?
Does anyone know if there's a control wire that mutes the radio?
I have to benchmark a Bluetooth handsfree system with my 04 LT and need to be able to mute the radio during phone usage. I have a feeling that this will involve the OnStar system but I'll accept any suggestions anyone might have. |

OK guys, did a little research on this question today as I was wiring all sorts of stuff up in the truck
On my 2004, pin B6 on the 24 pin connector is called a "Mute Signal". On my truck, without XM or Onstar, this pin is blank on the connector. No idea if you need to ground or put voltage to this pin to mute the radio, but it looks like this is a non-Class2 function. I'd test the pin on the radio to see if there is voltage present or not. If not, then ground it and see what happens. Test the resistance of this pin to ground to see if it i shigh enough to try the next section. Try applying +5V and then +12V to it and see if this works. NOTE: when applying voltage, do so through a pull down resistor so that you limit the current going to the radio, in case this does nothing. IMO, you will probably need to ground this pin to mute the radio. Seems to be the way the general runs a lot of these functions.... Good luck! |

lkurek - Thanks for the info.
The Bluetooth unit I ordered is on backorder for another week so I've got some time to do some investigating with this. |
