Need help with a car show!

Ok so here's the deal. I was talking with my youth pastor's at church, and thought a good way to meet some of the area kids that really aren't into the whole church thing, would be to hold a local car show. There are quite a few imports around and (sadly) alot of minitrucks. What I need to know is, where do I start? I was thinking of contacting area shops to give prizes to class winners. Like mini truck, import show(for looks) and import performance classes or something along those lines. So if you have ANY tips or ideas on how to put something like this together I'd appreciate it. I don't expect it to be the best show ever, but I'd just like to do it the best I can. Oh and booty hops are not an option

I really like the idea if we had that may import people around here I would get my youth pastor to do that but as for your show Im not sure where to start I would probably go the one of the larger car clubs around your town (PTAP here) and start getting them involved because if a well known club is part of it people will take intrest

Next time a car show rolls around in your area, attend it and see if you can find out who is running it and ask a few ?'s how to organize one. Also some of the larger clubs out there (i.e. Severed Ties, which has 13 or more chapters across the US, and one of the most successful clubs out there) throw big shows once or twice a year.

Also since you are wanting to do this to attract them to your church, make sure your pastor is prepared to deal with things that most churches freak out at...foul language, smoking, scantily clad girls hanging off every guy...it's all part of the scene.

Heh yeah I mentioned that to them, it's no big deal. We're mostly doing it to meet people and show them that there are car enthusiasts at church too =P Anyhow thanks for the answers so far, keep em coming!

And don't forget to list it at www.hemmings.com for the publicity....

You can check for local car shows here too as well as clubs in your area to contact.
