Folding hardtop

What up? This is my first post, and i have a quetion that i can't seem to find the answer to. Does anybody know any shops that can produce a folding hardtop for a 2001 spyder? I'm debating on getting a 03 gt Tib, 01 0r 02 spyder gt, mazda 6's, or wrx, my only problem is price insurance and comfront (backseat space) The tib is the cheapest and it drives nice, but i know i could find the spyder for almost the same amount, and I would love to drive around jersey with the only hardtop spyder in town or the sate! Follow by the mazda 6, I'm thinking about getting this because of the four doors and the 220 hp plus the insurance should be less then the wrx because it's non turbo. It's kinda of hard to decide, because I wanted an audi tt or the a4 but i decided they all cost to damn much so those are my top four, and if anybody can help me i would greatly be thankful.

Re: Folding hardtop

you would have to find a custom shop to do a hardtop. currently, there are no companies that make that modification for the 3G. doesnt like ferraris and benz's come with those?

Re: Folding hardtop

don't forget vett's and the extremely rare VR4 spyder hardtop

basically a custom shop would have to do it and you shouldn't do it if you don't have 6k$$ to blow cuz odds are you are going to need at the least taht amount of money to have custom panels made, motors installed, painted, wired to your ECU, programmed into your ECU.... which your ECU won't like at all, you'd be better off just getting a rollbar for your safety feature and investing the money in a variety of engine swaps i just discovered on the internet have fun

Why would get an engine swap?? If you are talking about an MIVEC mitsu motor..it would be pointless. First you are adding more weight and doing a whole lot of work a whole lotta money towards a small hp gain.

Turbo kit or supercharger would be a much better, cheaper, more efficient way of going.

so please send me a site that shows you what engine you could swap in.

i dont know, 100,000 mile 10 year warranty.

and an engine swap is feasable. Theres not huge selection, but for asmuch money as it costs to properly turbo/setup/tune/etc., you would still be the ballpark as far as funds go; but labor...... plus i think he might be talking about built short blocks for sale. if not, well whatever $0.02

Hate to say it...but if he wants a real powerhouse..and has some bank to do it with, i would opt for a Supra TT engine swap and a RWD conversion. Probably completly unrealistic (if even possible), but would be hella sweet!!

Re: Folding hardtop

i have a 2g spyder, and i have been looking for a hard top cover. Not a retracting hard top mechanism, but just the cover that is put on for winters. You know, S2000s and miatas have them. put the top down, throw on the cover...
