Re: launch
Well I start about 3 different ways:
1. Normal driving, I take it to 1500-2000 and ease off the clutch 2. Racing on the street: You already have AWD, meaning your start will be faster than most, so unless the car you are racing is a very good match (ie 05 cobra or ws6 or something) I just take it to 3000 or 3500 and slip the clutch, as soon as I feel it engage and start moving I dump the 2nd half of the pedal. 3. Racing at the track: If I'm trying to get a new best time or am racing something that I really need an amazing launch, I tack it up to 5,000rpms, and just dump the clutch(making sure not to bog). However this reaks havoc on your drivetrain...and if you do this enough, something WILL break...it is inevitable...so if you are dumping your clutch at high rpms every time you race a civic from light to light...your friends are right...you do need to learn how to slip it at lower rpms.

I think the best way is to slip from like 3000RPMs. Dumping the clutch isn't that smart of an idea. You want to have as smooth a launch as possible without bogging or that, "thud" sound from when you dump the clutch. |
