Transponder key

I recently purchased a used 2000 I30 which came with one ignition key. I went to the dealer and paid my $100 for a new transponder key and the programming of both the old & new keys so I would have a spare key. The dealer was only able to get one key to work at a time. When both keys are programed, the key that is used first is the only one that will start the car. Also, since we tried to add a second key, even the key that usually works, will sometimes have to be inserted and removed from the ignition a couple times before the car will start, which did not happen once prior to this. Any one else had this problem??

Re: Transponder key

I bought 2 keys from ebay for $30 for my wife's I30 and am told by www.streetkeys.com that both can be programmed for about $60 and they are guaranteed.

I took the car back to the dealer, and they ended up replacing the immobilizer module (IMMU) which was only reconizing the transponder key code intermittently. It works perfectly with the new module, although with all the troubleshooting & the parts & labour to repair, the new key cost me almost $1000.00 in the end.

Oh boy.

Next time give a cost limit. Stealerships will rob whatever they can, anytime, shameless. Even tell your MAF has burned (to get one for emselves). If u read news, u see that tens of thousands airbags evaporate... Do you have yours still?

This is really Limitless. With that sum you could get golden aftermarket things with 1000% more value for u money.

But be happy; now it works!
