Lightbulb Custom Plastic Parts

My name is Brian, I just joined the forum. I don't model cars, but I am thinking about opening up a business to cater to those who do. I can make custom acrylic parts. I can duplicate original (broken or not) parts and work from diagrams. The Parts can be clear, white or any simple or custom color. If you have any inquires contact me, I'm not sure that this is even a good idea for a business. The parts I make are of extremely good quality, but i'm not sure there is a demand. You can contact me at [email protected]. The first 3 people to ask, will get somthing made for free.

Thanks,

Brian

Welcome brian, thats an interesting and unique idea, i too am in the process of setting up a business venture see http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t27496.html . I think u might see quite a bit of interest for this as many model makers lose or break parts and sometimes replacements cannot be sourced, especially if the kit is obsolete. I think u may also see interest from scrath builders but i am uncertain as to wether the medium u are using will cause a problem??? Acrlic is not really used in this hobby, anyway i sent u an email about something im interested in.

Resin

I searched for a few minutes, and found some modeling resin. I have considerable mold making and casting skills, so I don't think casting shapes out of it would be a prob. Would this service interest anyone?

I think it's a good idea because not all people like to work with resin personnaly I much like to work with acrylic . You can have a very good and fast growing customer for anything from custom to replacement piece . You are a genius.

That sounds like a very good idea! Too bad I don't have any broken parts that need replacing right now

It is all possible...

All of this stuff is technically possible, but I was just wondering what the demand for it would be...The labor to duplicate or custom fabricate a part the first time is not cheap. That is why I figured it would be worth it if someone had just spent alot on a model kit, and broken one specific piece. However, if there is a huge demand, then it would all be worth it. Keep the replies coming, and thanks for your ideas...

BK
