Post Car rental for youths

I apologize if this is the wrong forum to talk about this, but I just thought I'd express my opinions. Earlier this week I was in desperate need of a rental car in order to get home (I am an 18 yr old at college). However, as many of you know, car rental companies do not rent to anyone under 21, most not even under 25. But I did find out this. I can easily rent a truck, without any problem, from say Uhaul or Penske. Me, an 18 year old, can legally rent a 25' truck for long distance driving, a vehicle I have never in my life driven, but I cannot rent a simple car, which I would be more than familiar with. Ridiculous if you ask me.

Re: Car rental for youths

well uhaul even has standard (manual transmission) trucks they rent out to people that never have ever used a large vehicle!
they will rent 30 foot trucks with manual trans with air ride to somone they dont even know drives standard! dint even ask if they have driven a truck that size before! really sucked for trying to get it up a hill to our house and around the sharp corner had to do a 3 point turn!

why dont you rent a 1/2 ton pickup from uhaul!

but you are right the rental companies are stupid in that sense.
