Question what do you think?

ok simple question, someone is selling me his geo metro 1993 4 door for 600$ canadian, it has absolutly no rust on it, but the windshield is a bit cracked nothin too dramatic, its manual. motor doesnt make to much noise but the big let down is the killometers 398,750KM.......now what i'd like to know is if you think this is way too much and if its worth it?
thanks

Re: what do you think?

If it was taken care of thats not bad but you would want to see maintainence records or proof that the fluids were changed regularly. Also if the body is good and you can drive it for 6 months the fuel you save would pay for a japanese engine if you needed one!(they run about $350.00 American)Just remember a metro isnt a race car, but they can be good reliable transportation with great fuel mileage
Good luck

Any car that runs is generaly worth a 1000, but you gotta remember you get what you paid for, thats alot of km for any car and if your talking a 3 cyl thats even more. I would say 600 is worth it but you gotta expect it to be gone in 6 months, I say low ball him, he'll take it at like half that.

as for 350 for an engine, I don't know where he's shopping so I wouldn't count on that, plus in alot of cases a new engine means a new tranny, and you'll probably get them used, it becomes a hassel and alot of labour costs unless you like to do it yourself.

$350 for an engine is about the going rate for a metro. Check Ebay. I just got my 60,000 mile engine for my 90' metro for $350. Picked it up on sunday . Take care of it, and it will take care of you. It'll prolly need some suspension parts soon with that many Km's on it.
