One before you do anything, get those head gaskets checked out... those are known for blowing out.

1... Gears out back 3:73's or 4:10's
2 Tranny cooler
3 4.2L F-150 long block swap
4 Shift kit
5 UD pulleys
6 CAM

Re: V-6 upgrades, please help.

well u have the old 3.8, the difference between that and the newer one is the intake system, and theres a difference of 40 hp. a new intake and new intake manifold is what they did.

Yes it will work, just make sure you get a tranny cooler and get a chip too.

I was thinking about putting in cool air intake, should i?

I will look into tranny cooler. What kind of chip should i get. Ive seen people with this chip that gives you + 20 horse power, and it cost like 10 bucks.

Sorry CHIP was too generic of a term. I mean something like a Hypertech programmer. Something that will allow you to adjust the shift points untill you come up with a setting that works well with your car. Plus it will allow you to adjust the fuel/air ratio and speedo settings.

Re: V-6 upgrades, please help.

i just installed a B&M ShiftPlus kit on my cavalier automatic, and its amazing the difference. The shifts are faster and stronger. Was very simple too, all i had to do was tap 2 wires on the transmission. Takes maybe 5 mins to install. Mine cost 40 bucks shipped.

Re: V-6 upgrades, please help.

A $20 intake isn't going to add anywhere near 10hp. $300 intakes only add like 4hp.

Re: V-6 upgrades, please help.

Grow up kid. No $20 anything is going to add 8-10hp unless you somehow manage to get a whole bunch of used parts for $20.

Re: V-6 upgrades, please help.

just to clarify the intake isnt really $20, and you probably couldnt find one for that anyway. they are more expensive but you can get them for that kind of price on ebay.
