stoopid grand am, your days r numbered

this car is gone within a few months

here we go again:

93 grand am, v6, auto
new plugs, wires, alternator, kandN filter, recent oil change, weathers all cold up here, as usual, (THE YUKON)

theres a loud noise coming from the engine, when it happened last week i went in for an oil change, he menitioned something about my air intake, it was off 1/2" inch, i'm not poistive what he said though, something in that area.

can this loud noise and very noticable shuddering inside the car be caused by air intake? is it oil? probally not

#1 loud whirrly sound
#2 bad car vibrations

#3 engine goes loud at stop lights?
when i have the brake applied the engine goes all loud, low brake fluid? or this air intake stuff

could it be the tranny? i shift to netural and the sound goes away, but i'm not doing that everytime i stop, i know somethings wrong

please help

thanks

It sounds tranny related. Could be your torque converter. Something about the "stall speed" maybe. People have had simliar problems, and have disabled their torque converter stall by removing the plug that goes in the top of it "four blue plugs" or something. That would be worth trying, but I'm not sure exactly what to tell you to look for on your vehicle.

but when this problem was around last week he said he fixed something on my air intake, by the mass air sensor,

honestly i don't think its the tranny

could it be oil pan or tranny seals?

what kind of loud noise is it making when u stop? my 96 se (3.1) made a kind of rattling sound when i'd stop, but putting it in neutral seemed to stop it. it was due to a bad idler pulley.
