gas mileage dropped off

I've had this 87 crx si for only a few months. At first, when I kept my foot out of it, it got about 41 mpg. It dropped down to about 35 after two or three months, and since it was starting to run a little rough, I put in new spark plugs, plug wires, coil wire, rotor, dist cap, and air filter. It ran great after that, but the mileage is still at 35! It's the programmed fuel injection engine, everything stock as far as I know. I'd like to get the mpg back up, but I don't even know what to check - anybody got any ideas? Other than that, what a kick this car is!

TIA

Check your o2 sensor... If it hasn't been replaced in a few years, it could be bad.... I know mine is, and I haven't replaced it, and I'm not getting that great of gas mileage. If all else fails check your timing. It could be off a little. By the way, what color is it? Mine is black, and I'm in love with it! And if no one else has told you, Welcome to the Forums!

Re: gas mileage dropped off

Yeah i would be suspicous of the o2 sensor and the timing but the fuel filter could be bad to.It would cause the fuel not to be able to flow fluently enough, that would also cause it to run rough just check it all out.

Thanks for the ideas guys - I'll try that. And thanks for the welcome!
My car is red. It's kind of rough looking, but it's a nice driver. I got it just for commuting, but I had no idea what a fun car it would turn out to be!
