Catalytic Converter Replacement
I need to replace the catalytic converter in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee (it's definitely worn out because it rattles). How easy is this job? My concern is that the old one will be crimped on so tightly that I won't get it off without sawing off the fittings or part of the pipe. It's not welded - just has some u-bolts. What challenges might I run into? Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Catalytic Converter Replacement
pulled mine , used a hammer and chisel to pry it lose from the slip joint , bought another muffler as the old one on my 94 , 4x4 4.o ,was shot , the cat looked good, , i could see day light thru it when held to the light ,and didnt rattle , clamped it all togeather , but was too noisy , so had a muffler shop weld all connections ,
if you thing the cat is bad , replace it , it s not worth the trouble a cloged one can cause , in some cases you can save money by spending money |

Re: Catalytic Converter Replacement
well I just put a new FlowMaster Cat-back system on my 94 and replace the cat while I was at it.
cut the rest of the exhaust off muffle, tailpipe. and just pounded the Cat off with a hammer, wasn't too bad. |
