Brake Lights not working on 96 model

Replace bulbs and fuse, still no lights, think next step is brake light switch, but have no idea where to locate, can some one assist.

Thanks,
Rd

Re: Brake Lights not working on 96 model

There may be 2 fuses for the lights, see if there is a stoplamps fuse under the hood- especially if the CHMSL(third brake light) works. If the brake, stop/haz and stoplamps fuses are good it probably is the switch, and the switch is probably where only a 3 year old can get to it

stop lights

just happened to me and watched my mechanic replace it and it was a long white plastic piece located somewhere near the brake pedal on top. It cost me about 140 for diagnostics, part, and repair.
