Need help with error code and service engine soon

Hi

I had a mechanic put in an alternator over the weekend. When I left he said I also had a code 303 engine misfire cylinder 3. It is a 1999 alero 6 cylinder automatic.

The car seems to drive fine. But the service engine soon light stays on and very rarely flashes like on a hill.

The car didnt have this problem before I had him put the alternator in. What action can I take to get the light to go off. I had the fuel injectors cleaned and a tune up less than a year ago. a different mechanic then said it had an engine misfire code but they could find nothing wrong. They reset the code and it stayed off. This mechanic did that and it stays on.

I would start by checking out the spark plugs. Along with that check the wires. If its been a while since they've been changed it might be time.
