Arrow Wanted: MR2 Wanted badly!

Hey, I've been looking at getting a new car for quite some time now and selling or trading my current car to do so. I'm looking at a few kinds of cars but the MR2 stands out above them all! Im looking for a 2nd Gen MR2, any miles, any color, at least decent shape, and somewhat close to my area. Automatic is prefered, but in order to get this car I'll settle for manual anyday. Im short on cash at the time, so a trade would be amazing if it could be worked out somehow. My car Im willing to trade for an MR2 is a 1966 Ford Mustang with a 289 V8. Im located in South Carolina but would be willing to drive quite a ways to attain an MR2 and do a trade if anyone wants. If interested at all in a trade or selling me an MR2, please email me at [email protected] or call me anytime at (864) 888-7526. Once again, I'm dying to get an MR2, so any help at all is very much appreciated. Thanks and hope to hear from someone!

If you're dying to get an MR2, why do you want an Automatic?

Re: Wanted: MR2 Wanted badly!

Because I dont want the car for its speed or anything like that, I just simply love the car! The body style is what I fell in love with...simple as that. I just really want one, and an automatic is prefered (but not necessary) because I just plain like the simplicity of an automatic, thats all.

Then the MR2 is the wrong car for you. Its a performance car, not a show car. Using it for show would be a complete waste of its abilities. It wouldnt be as bad if you got a non-turbo auto. Those are kind of rare though.

Re: Wanted: MR2 Wanted badly!

Welcome to the group
The MR2 is an awesome car and I agree that it is truly beautiful.

I would suggest looking here for MR2s:
www.traderonline.com
www.xcars.com
www.mr2oc.com

Just so you know the 2 gens were only available in automatic with the 5SFE engine (non-turbo). The turbo engine (3sgte) was only available in manunal.

Either way they are great cars and I can appreciate you wanting the automatic. Manual sucks for commuting, especially in heavy traffic.

I have known a lot of people that have loved their NA MR2s. Actually, I know a guy that was trying to sell his in the NJ/NY/PA regional forum on www.mr20c.com. I'm not sure if it sold yet. You may want to check the regional for sale forums on that board.

Anyway, it looks like you found the right car for youself. Good luck with your search

Hey, thanks a lot for the links! And for the others that are getting on my case for wanting an automatic over a manual...I guess I just didnt make myself clear enough. What I meant to say was that I dont really want a turbo all that much, I'd prefer a N/A automatic over a manual turbo is what Im saying. HOWEVER...I also meant that if a manual turbo was all that I could find in the right price range and close enough, then I'd definately settle for that and learn to love it! Im not looking for high performance or anything, Im looking for a very good looking, above average car that I can do my everyday stuff in. You see? I love the car...not the cars performance (even though that kicks ass too).

Re: Wanted: MR2 Wanted badly!

I did not say the 88 MR2 has zero performance.
I said my 88 MR2 has zero performance.

I am fully aware of the potential of the 88 MR2.
Mine just needs help ... I love the MK1s.

Re: Wanted: MR2 Wanted badly!

Okie now, last try! I've still got my '66 Mustang that I'd be more than happy to do a straight trade for an MR2 (91-95). Any help here?
