problem with 2 amps

hey guys i just install a 2nd amp on my brothers car. he has a 1000watt boss amp (i think thats aroudn 500watt rms) and a 800watt 2 channel amp. i use a power distrubition block and connected it sucessfully. we bought a pair of 240 watt 6x9s and a pair of 200 wat 3way boss speakers
his 800watt 10inch sub is connected to the 2channel amp and his 4 speakers to the 1000 watt 4 channel amp.

yesterday every thing is working great. all the speakers and sub worked. then 2daqy hs called me up cause his still at work and i havent had a chance to check what the probem is but he said over the phone that the sound completely turned off. he said that the 4 channel boss amp has a red light blinking and for sure that red light is the protection light.

what does that light mean. is there some thing wrong with the amp or just my connections. i wanna ask u guys, if i do connect 2 amps together, do i have to change any of the fuses, the fuses in the amps and what about the fuse in the engine bay near the battery. the one which he is using is the circle chape fuse, not the square shaped fuse

please any help.

Check To Make Sure That None Of The Speaker Wires Are Touching Each Other. Maybe The Speaker Wire In The Doors Came Off The Speaker With The Vibration Of The Car. The Red Light Is The Safety, But If You Get That It Then There Is Still Power Going To The Amp. The Problem Is Not In The +,-, Or Rem Wire, But In Your Speaker Connections.

Well, the real problem is that you used Boss stuff. I wouldn't use that for a paperweight. The only thing you could do is disconnect the speaker leads and then power it up to see if it goes back into protection.

Oh, what size fuse(s) did you use on the power wire to the amps?

not sure i'll checkwhat do u guys think of kickercomps.

cause my brother's friend's cousin owns a audio shop and for 50 aus dollar's they can redo the whole connections professionally and is selling legally a kicker comp amp for 200 buck worth 600. but i might have not connect the amps or speaker properly so he will let them fix everything.

but if the protection light is on, is it usually the speakers which is the problem cause im sure i did the remote, power and ground properly. do i have to bring the boss amp back to where i bought it to fix the protection mode. or what.

with the speakers, when i connected the 4 speakers, i bridged all 4 on the front connections on the amp. maybe i dont know what i doin,

the most common thing that I've seen when the protection light comes on is that people have the speakers wired for an ohm load that the amp can't handle.

Bridging all 4 speakers on the two front connections shouldn't give the amp any trouble unless the thing can't handle a 2 ohm load. Which could be the case considering it's a Boss amp.

the box of the boss says its 2 ohms stable. my brothers friend said that the amp overheated and the boss amp didnt get too much power to operate it.

Boss amps are only rated 2ohm stereo or 4ohm mono.

the red light can come on for many reasons. First yeah, check your fuse on the amp. Is it blown? The check your grounds. Make sure they are good tight and on bare metal, and also make sure you don't have a supe long ground. try to keep it around a foot long. Also, your power wire fuse should be larger then the amp fuses combined. If your amp fuses add up to 50 amps, you should use a 60 or greater amp fuse on your power wire. Is there a power drain when you have bass turned up.(do the lights dime to the sound for example) If so, consider getting a lager wire. 4 Gauge.
I would take the amps out and bench test them. See if you can get that red light out some way. If you can't, then it can be an internal problem ie, output chips. They usually blow when listening to it turned up.
I have 3 amps in my car, and i have never had a problem. I run 4 gauge wire with a 150 amp fuse on the power wire.
