Trunk Area

I am looking at building a custom fiberglass sub box/amp rack but what is behind the rear seats? That "trunk" are is raised so high what is underneath it? Gas tank? What would I be damaging if I bolted this box/rack to the floor right in the middle? Thanks

Re: Trunk Area

hmm, i think that you wont be doing too much damage if you drilled into the metal there, but u might wnana double check, i never seen anybody with a sub and box in a cam, but i bet it would kick ass cuz most people have their boxes in the trunk, in the camaro, the bass would bounce up then reflect on the glass to the front of the car, thats gonna PWN!!

Looks like someone stole the trunk!

Cool setup though.

Re: Trunk Area

Uhh, if you make it right, the amp and subs and MDF will be heavy enough u wont have to bolt it down or you can make it fit so nicely its snug and u wont have to worry about it either.

Re: Trunk Area

Its going to be fiberglass and I was just wondering how hard it will be to bolt down. we are custom making it to fit the Camaro's trunk but I wanted a little extra security of having it bolted down.

Re: Trunk Area

the gas tank is directly beneath right where you want to drill and bolt. i would look for a different method...

Re: Trunk Area

yeah i deffinatley wouldnt bolt anything to that hump your gas tank is less than an inch beneath it u could do what im doin if your building a box for your amps and cut a piece of wood at an angle and have it come off the back of the box and go a lil way behind the seats so it dosent move freely

Re: Trunk Area

Yeah, it's not too hard. The last one we did we foiled the whole rear and glassed away. I just used enough HDF(not MDF) to rough the shapes and give areas to mount the subs and amps to. When everything was done, we used straps under the box/enclosure that went under the plastic sides of the car's trim and bolted them there. Yeah, DO NOT BOLT DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE.

Unfortunately I do not have pics of the Firehawk I did but here's some pics of one I am doing for the demo Jeep.
