hey
i just changed my cabin air filter today. it is very simple.... underneath passenger side dash, there should be a kick plate... remove kickplate, 3 or 4 screws... then there is one screw which is kinda hidden, but a little harder to get out, that holds a the cover which is about one inch by 7-8 inches long..... slide out one filter then the other one.... you should have 2 filters.... put everything back together.... 15- 20 minutes tops....the hardest part---one of the screws for the kickplate was the toughest to put back....good luck... gives that clean smell, especially if you have allergies....

Re: Cabin air filter
I've heard that '03-up don't have them, but I sure can't prove it =). Maybe next time I get around to seeing my '04 (college campus, the damn thing is parked nearly a mile away!), I'll have a poke around and see what I can see.

Re: Cabin air filter
Hey guys, I just changed the 2 filters on my 99' they, were, dis gus ting!
![]() I have the kick plate on mine took about 30 minutes to complete the job. Hardest part was the one screw that holds the kick plate on in the middle. For whatever reason GM has recessed the Screw hole and it's hard to get to. Better Air flow now, now I just have figure out how to get the damn Smoker smell out of my truck. It's not too bad but, it's definately there.

Re: Cabin air filter
Put a box of baking soda under the seat w/ holes poked in one side of it

Re: Cabin air filter
K o I'll give it a shot. I've heard too if you Febreeze the Sh*t out of your vehicle it works too.
Also, Shampoo your vehicle then sprinkle Baking soda in and wait a few days then vacuum the Baking Soda up. I'll give that Baking Soda thing a try though...

Re: Cabin air filter
Well i just took mine out and disgusting is an understatement. A 7mm deep socket works great to get at that recessed screw although it just boggles the mind as to why GM would use a 7/32 screw to hold on the access door for the filters. Metric for 99% and stardard for 1%....go figure. Another thing that boggles the mind is the price they want for the filters here, $35.........APIECE, i can get them cost at a parts store i usually deal with for $25 apiece , but still. For now i knocked all the loose crap out , vaccumed them real good and put them back but will remove them tomorrow at work and blow them out with compressed air then reinstall them till i feel like paying 50-70 bucks. Hell that is all most garages used to do with air filters for the engines , knock the loose crap out and give a quick wipe with a rag and reinstall. 130p.s.i will clean them pretty good , if not blow them apart

Re: Cabin air filter
yea, the price is a little crazy... I dont really use my cabin filter that much, only if im behind a trash truck, bus, or if someone farted in my truck. And of course when i ordered the new ones from the local auto store, they had to get me the most expensive K&N filters. Thanks, I always wanted some hige performance filters for my cab, maybe now i can go faster... j/k.
dont minde me people, im just a little bored.
