95 cavalier no power

My 95 with 2.2 starts and idles fine but when you take off down the road it lacks power (doggy) unless you kick it in the a!$, if you do that it takes off fine. After you drive it for a half hour or so you can feel it come out of it and it runs fine. I get a check engine light just before it straightens up and the cooling fan cycles on and off continually. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance..

Have you coded the car? It's sounds like a bad sensor with the fan and all. But if that is a seperate problem and just coincidence that it's happening simultaneously then I would guess at Fuel delivery problems. Possibly the fuel pump itself, maybe just the fuel filter or gummed up lines that need a cleaner run through them.
