95 dodge caravan

This may have been asked before. I am having trouble with the idle on the van. it seems to happen when it is colder say 15F or colder. it run rough would not stay running. but drove it and when it warmed up it would run good. since it warmed up it has not done it. also the check engine light would come on the shut off then come on. it is currently off. also one other weird thing is when the engine was warm going down the road and let off of the gas the engine would quit or about to quit only did it this only when I let off on the gas this happened once. so I checked the code and it said 32 which is the EGR solenoid circuit or EGR system failure. but cant see where the service manual tell me how to check the solenoid. is this a likely problem and doest seem like this is something they carry in the parts store or do I have to go to dodge.

Thanks
Lane

Re: 95 dodge caravan

This problem sounds like the EGR valve is sticking (open??) in the colder weather. The EGR valve is a bypass vent that allows some exhaust gases to be recycled back into the cylinders and reburnt for cleaner emmissions. It gets particulary grungy in that bypass vent/valve with oil and soot residues which I suspect may be impeding the mechanical movements of the actuating solinoid. I don't believe they are serviceable. Your best bet is to try replacing the unit (unfortuately it won't be cheap). Aftermarket parts stores do carry the item though.
