Oil Pressure Gauge Issue
Hey Guys!
Quick question... I just had a JDM 6 bolt swap done on my car and I have a problem with the oil pressure gauge. To start off I want to say that apparantly the JDM Engines are all ready to hook up an oil cooler too. Well, my mechanic said that one of the banjo connectors was broken when he did the swap so he took an adapter off of my old engine (not sure what) and put it on there so it would work. Now, he said that may be restricting a little bit of oil flow but not much. The end of the story is that my oil pressure gauge is showing no oil pressure. Other people that have had this swap also have this happening to them. I am sure that the engine is making oil pressure, but is there anything I should be worried about, or anything I should check to make sure all is good? Let me know what you think please. Thanks! Alex

How much did the swap cost all together

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Issue
Update--> The oil gauge went up for a bit and then down twice today. This gives me the idea that is may be an electrical issue. Do you think that is possible? I will check the unit later today.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Issue
Get an aftermarket electrical gauge, much more useful. Summit has the autometer sportcomp for ~40 bucks, thats what I use. In fact I only have 2 guages, boost and oil pressure
I would have rather had the housing for the external cooler, even if you block those ports off with a bolt or apapter fitting/cap. The 91-94 sandwich cooler (aka "oil mixer") is a huge POS and cost me my 2nd or 3rd motor. But you can deal with that later. As long as the housing used fits the front cover on that motor, it should be fine. I'm not sure what the mechanic meant by oil resitrction.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Issue
Kevin, Im assuming that your oil pressure gauge is mechanical. I ahve heard of safety issues on these gauges...hot oil may shoot out of the gauege while driving.
Some technical help would be appreciated. |

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Issue
I use an electical gauge. That was the suggestion in the first line of my last post
![]() Forget everything I said about the oil filter housing. I dont have the energy to explain further, and odds are you arent going to change it anyway
