fire in engine compartment

i need to know what could of shorted out under my hood, i was driving my car, and i parked it out in front of my shop, and i came back outside and there was a fire in the engine compartment where the ignition coil and spark plugs are located does ne one know what possibly could of shorted out?????

Any electrical device could have shorted but it would have be something that was constantly active like starter wires or alternator and there would have had to be contact with more than one wire. Sorry to hear that though. Good Luck in getting her fixed and welcome to AF.

How about a slight gas or oil leak? They can start a fire as well. Sadly, I'm speaking from personal experienc
