Modern car windows have not only the black rubber/plastic trim around the outside, but they are usually framed on the inside, too. Those masks go on the inside of the window shell so you can spray paint the borders around the windows black from the inside. Mask off all of the outside surface to avoid overspray. Make the first few coats of paint very light so they don't leak under the masks.
Bare Metal Foil is a thin adhesive-backed aluminum foil that has a few modeling applications. Mostly, it's stuck on and rubbed smooth to look like chrome or, uh..., bare metal... ![]() Read more at www.bare-metal.com.

Bare metal foil is also a very expensive but excellent tool to use as masking

In regards to those masks its a great idea but does anyone else think that they are not as good as some of the magazines make out? I know that without them the task of painting a border around the window is a tough one, but i find these masks quite tricky to stick down in the right position. It takes me a few attempts to get them right and all the ones ive used so far are a touch smaller than the area they go in - i.e it doesnt go right up to the etched part on the plastic.
Anyway i read a handy tip at http://mrminternational.future.easyspace.com/Tips.html I imagine they mean cut them diagonally??? But what a marvellous idea!!! Hope im not going over your head Scott???
