Exactly what does the ECS do?

Okay, admittedly this is a NEWBIE question but here goes.
I initially thought that the ECS just stiffened the suspension. However after doing some reading and finding out that the car also has G force, acceleration, steering sensors etc... I am curious if all of them are tied in with the ECS. The reason I started researching this is.........when I picked up my SL from the shop this afternoon after spending $900.00 for a timing belt, tensioner, water pump and throttle body cleaning, the mechanic told me that my shocks were leaking a little and would need to be replaced. What do you guys reccomend as replacement shocks?

Is ther a good source of information about all of the sensors/systems onboard the 3KGT?
Thanks,
Chris

if you want ECS, replace them with some good used stock shocks, if you want something performance, look into something from one of the 3/S tuners.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
