Cracked inside panel of full doors.

I have a 97 Sahara w/ full doors. In 99 driver side inside door panel cracked about 4-5 inched from the dash heater vent. I suspected the heater vent was pointed at the panel on a cold morning and thought Oh Well another character mark on my Jeep. Now this year the passenger side did the same thing. I was wondering if this is a common problem? I have enjoyed my Jeep for years and it has 110,000 miles on it. I have had some repairs. ie. transaxle, rear end barrings and front O2 sensor but over all it has been very reliable. I hope it lasts me for many more years. I also have a turn signal problem would anyone know the procedure for replacing the turn signal switch and if it is something I want to tangle. I have read other posts and seen that the clock gear in the steering column can be a pain. I appreciate any info. Thanks.

Re: Cracked inside panel of full doors.

Sounds like the plastic door panels are aging; I don't know if this is usual or not, but I haven't heard of it anywhere else; should be an easy replacement.

When you say turn signal switch are you talking about the one on the column? I haven't done a Jeep, but if it's anything like other manufacturers, the unit is bolted to the steering column and has some electrical connections; pretty easy DIY job, hardest part for me was putting the plastic around the steering column back on; and taking the electrical connection apart can be a bear.

Re: Cracked inside panel of full doors.

I will be doing some work on my full doors. The handle linkage and locks are not working properly. At that time I will be custom making a cover. I also need a new handle strap. But I might mold something up to replace that.
