Fram Air Hog Air Filters

what are your views on this air filter. I am wanting to get one for my 97 SE, but not sure if it will actually do what they say it should. Any input will be helpful.

Re: Fram Air Hog Air Filters

If you're going with a different drop-in filter, go with a K&N filter. My advice would just be to go with a cold air intake or warm air intake setup, but if you're still doing stock filters go with a K&N.

I wouldn't waste your money... Your not going to see any noticeable performance gain unless your air filter is really clogged (but then a normal new one would feel that much better too).

96-98 Grand am's are cold air setups... the inlet for the air box is right behind the Left headlight, out of the engine compartment.... So use your judgment there.

Re: Fram Air Hog Air Filters

Almost every single car on the road uses a cold air setup. It has been that way for decades. An aftermarket cold air systems gives you a larger snorkel and eliminates the air box giving you a lot less restriction thus improving power.

Ridenour's got a good point going with the K&N filter if your staying with the stock cold air system, I use one. It's true the gain is minimal at best. I've noticed a bit better top end performance, the engine reacts a bit quicker to full on throttle from cruising.
