Got a new best time last night, but lost to modded Mach 1

Well, guys, had a great night of racing last night. I got a new best and lost to a nice modded Mach 1 by 5/1000ths of a second.

I busted off 3 12.6-12.7 runs before I got my best

Reaction- .564
60ft- 1.773
1/8th- [email protected]
1/4- [email protected]

I have a vid of the mach 1 race. I'll get it posted up tonight when I get home from work. I hate to lead an entire race, only to have a sports car edge me out by half a fender on the other end. I wish I could have gotten alittle more aggresive out of the hole, but those cars really pull hard on the other end. You can really tell how aerodynamically(SP?) challenged the truck is by how low my trap speed is for a 12.5 pass.
That's what I get for racing a "brick", huh?

I know what you mean. I know of people running just below mid 13s and trapping 108 mph.

You could put a buslength on them by 60 and just slow down before they start catching up. Just don't race on the highway

It doesn't matter that you lost to a sports car. It matters that you almost beat a sportscar in a 4,000 pound truck.

I'd love to say that I beat a Mach 1 modded or not. They are fast cars, and the fact is you took a brick and nearly beat him. That is quite the accomplishment there. Can't wait to see the vid either! Late...

Nice job! I've found it takes a bit more power to make our bricks trap the same as sports cars, oh well, just means you have to pick your highway battles carefully I can't wait till I can get back out there with my new setup, I'll be hitting the track again in March

That's awesome man. Is that .564, as in .064 (meaning a .500 is perfect)? If so, that's pretty (real actually) good for just a foot brake.

A mid 12 Silverado! That is just awesome. Congrats.

You know, after looking at your numbers, it just makes me realize how crappy the track i go to hooks, lol. I mean here you are with a 1.773 60 ft, in a street truck, and my best this year, in a track only car, with .513 gears, was 1.523, yet my car would run 6.60s-6.70s in the 1/8th at around 101-103 mph (that's what it did the last time at an 1/8th anyways-6.71 @ 101 mph). Just going by that, you'd think I could run atleast low 1.40s or high 1.30s in the 60ft, especially with such a short gear. Pitiful, lol.

I'm gonna have to take that car to a good track this summer if I can and just see what it could do in the 60 ft.

Anyways, that's awesome man that you run 12.55. I bet the guy in the Mach 1 was totally shocked/worried when you were in front of him nearly the whole race (unless of course he seen ya run a couple times).

Yeah, that was where a .500 is perfect. I had been cutting some great lights all night, and the mustang cut a .507 on me.(I still holeshotting his butt, because he could only muster a 2.01 60ft!!!) The Eaton I installed Saturday really helped out on getting traction out of the hole. Our tracks are very nice, seeing as how I'm cutting a consistant 1.77 60ft on drag radials. I was about 3hrs away from home, and I drove the truck there, so I wasn't trying to get "too" aggresive on the launch. I was still launching at around 1000rpms. Saturday night at my local track, I'm going to try some 1400-1500rpm launches and see if I can get that 60ft down to the low 1.70s. I really want an 11 on motor, but I'm starting to run out of ideas on how to get it.

Hopefully, I can get that video converted from hi8 to digital tonight. I played around with it last night, but didn't get the quality where I wanted it.

Wow. I think those times are crazy. Still trapped in the 13 second realm here but me thinks I'm gonna spring for a nice converter this summer - shave down them 2.10 60's eh??

What kind of tires you running on that beast???

I'm holding off until I can't get a best time at the track when I go. It seems I get alittle better with it everytime, so I'm going to keep it all motor until it just can't get any faster. Then I'm most likely going to stick with a 100 shot, or at least until I get another everyday driver. Right now this is my grocery getter.
