Unlocking 4 wheel drive front hubs
Is it possible to disconnect the 4 wheel drive from the front wheels? have any 04 Z71

Nope. These trucks don't have locking hubs like old 4x4's...

They use CV's. like most modern cars. They disconnect at the pumpkin when you shift into 2wd, but everything outboard of the pumpkin always turns. The CV has a spline on it that slides into the back of the hub body. Short of removing the CV therer is nothing you can do.

There is a product called 4x4 posi-lok positive axle engagement. One thing it allows you to do is have 2wd low range. Im guessing that is why you asked. I don't know how it works but It cant be used on the auto trac transfer case. It is $200, if you need more info, like where to find it just ask.
