high boost

im running the stock turbos but some how at 1.5+ KpA (around 22 pounds+) how is this possible. i have a hks BOV but that shouldn't have any effect... i have a aftermakret electronic boost guage so its not off... its a greddy boost guage not some cheap offbrand... but i know its not good to run such high of boost. and i did not turn up the boost or gain on the boost guage infact i have the limiter in effect and still it over boosts... any idea?

Re: high boost

I dont now what it could be, but i would suggest to not drive the car till you get it fixed. Because i think 1.5+KpA is toooo much for the little 9b turbo!!!!

Re: high boost

If you mean you have your Profec set lower, but that your gauge shows 22psi, then a serious boost leak would be my first guess. What are your Profec settings? Also, I assume you mean that it peaks at 22psi, what is it showing at redline?

are you using the boost controller as your boost gauge? I'd check it, the stock turbo can't even spike 22lbs into our engines. Gain needs to be set at 5-7%, i have mine at 5. Check your connections and make sure nothing is messed up. Also, i'd assume your on stock injectors by looking at your list. If so, you'd hit fuel cut at around 15 anyways.

something seems very fishy about that. Maybe your boost controller is defective.

Re: high boost

iono mabey... but everything is reading high boost...
the stock guage hides the bar... the boost controller has a guage on it and its reading about the same as the boost guage... but still shouldnt the computer limit that even if the boost controller is defective... plus it was doing it with the boost controller off too...

can anyone tell me what they set their Profect on stock turbos? because i have a big front mount comeing in the mail and that will only up the boost more... (no flexing hoses and cooler air).
mabey i should gewt bigger injectors to help keep up with the air...

Re: high boost

or... i could get a external wastegate and set it to start releasing boost at 15lbs... but then those are expensive :S

Re: high boost

i had this on a completly different car once and found that the vaccuum pipes were not connected in the correct place, hence the stock electronic boost solenoid was actually being by-passed.

To me,this is the only way you could possibly get a higher boost setting past 15psi before you will fuel cut,but dont hold me to it, long shot i know, but id check your vaccuum lines, especially if you have had the stock pipes disconnected or played with them at some point i would seriously check them.

you can find a diagram of where they all go in stealth316 website i think.

hope this helps and would love to know the outcome.
