looking for a comp
can you please suggest the most reliable, best computer a person can purchase for $1k.
i am a college student, i do not play alot of computer games(have an xbox for gaming), and i do not plan on using my computer in class(i prefer using a paper and pen for notes). my parents want me to get a laptop, but like i said, i don't plan on using it in class; my professors are a bit unorganized when it comes to presenting info. as a result, i constantly find myself drawing arrows to other sections of my notebook, or making little notes in the margins. anyways, i would like a desktop with a flatpanel monitor. can you please suggest the best desktop computer and best moniter, and to keep my folks happy, can you please suggest a good laptop. reliability is key, and i only have $1k to spend. thank you for your time

Re: looking for a comp
I would suggest a Dell if you're not building your own. You can get a decent Dell for about $400+ right now. Should be more than sufficient for what you want to use it for.
You can also always buy a laptop and buy a monitor, mouse, and keyboard seperate and use it as a desktop at home and tote it with you to class when necessary. Most current laptops have a video out which can connect to the monitor and just about all laptops have USB now for mouse and keyboard.
