Unhappy Major Problems

i think i'm in serious trouble, when i drive the car, it starts fine runs fine, but after a while after i stall it or, get back in the car after driving it won't start. It overheats or something and wont start. But after a while it will run. I was told it could be a spun bearing. I'm beginning to fear the worst. i heard that you can fix the problem before it damages the crank, but im not sure. Could their be another problem. And if its a spun bearing what can i do.

Also if this has something to do with it...............

I had blown both head gaskets at the same. Got them fixed then found bunch of other problems. Oiling system was completely replaced, and the fuel pump was disconnected, so they dropped the axle pulled the tank and fixed that. i spent 3K in repairs and i don't want to have to get rid of the car. If its a spun bearing i need to know what i can do. Because if i lose the car, i'll be a wreck.

So please help me...............

oil pressure is fine (I think) and it runs fine, starts fine. after a while. I can go to the store and back. Then 30 min later go out again. But driving stoplight to stoplight and running arrends for an hour will have the effect.

Re: Major Problems

So the oil pressure doesn't drop after u start it? And it doesn't take longer than normal to start right?

Re: Major Problems

man i dont see how a spun bearing is gonna effect your starts after warm up...there could be a number of smaller things wrong w/ a price tag no were near the cost to fix that now i am pretty new to all this but some small things to check or possibly replace...which the parts might not be on a 4th gen but here goes...o2 sensor, tps, iac, starter or starter relay...mine idles rough some times after warm up but its idling around 500 rpm instead of 700 and i think its due to the tps goin bad in it and possibly the iac startin to mess up also and mine wouldnt start and it was the starter relay..so id at least check those first also i dont know if yours has it but i think 4th gens are notorious for the optispark causing alot of problems not a real cheap fix but alot less than a bearing and engine tear down

Re: Major Problems

ok, First of all, if you have a problem people can help you more if they know exactly what kind of car you have, so posting that would be helpful.

Secondly, I am assuming from your profile that you have a V6 95 Camaro with a 3.4L engine. I partially agree with Justlearning that it would be best to check smaller stuff first, do some trouble shooting and see if you can narrow the problem down. However, I am more than 200% sure it's not the opti-spark because 95 V6's don't have opti-spark ignition, they have coil packs. So do some trouble shooting and post back with any weird things the car is doing and the people here on the forum will be more than happy to help.

sorry sparky its a V8

why did you think i had a 6 but anyways............

I was told it could be a spun bearing and i was fearing the worst but it realing could be anything.

I would like everyones opinion on this one. Because i've heard several different things from mechanics and it gets confusing.

Re: Major Problems

Sorry Spanky.

I thought you had a 6 because your profile says 1995 Chevy Camaro, since it doesn't say Z28, RS, or SS I assume it to be a sixer. Being that that is the base model, and since you didn't provide the information to let us know otherwise. So you can go ahead and act all cool, but really you know that you screwed up and it's your fault. So next time you need help why don't you just go ahead and let the people who are trying to help you, know what type of equipment you're dealing with. It makes it easier for someone who has the knowledge of the system to give you an idea of where to start.

Re: Major Problems

there is no reason to be all ill with him, he said he is just learning. the best thing to do is to take it to an actual gm goodwrench dealership and let them diagnose the problem. The dealerships are the best qualified for gm cars and most likely will fix the problem right the first time. you may end up spending a little more at a dealership, but you can rest assured that it will be fixed and guaranteed. I'm not exactly sure what the problem could be from your description of what the car is doing, but it sounds like it could be serious, and you don't want to damage anything in the engine internally, because then you are looking at big bucks. If its running hot, you may want to check the following.

thermostat (probably a 180 or 190 degree) suggest changing to 160

cooling system, fan belts, hoses etc.
timing (has your computer ever been tuned?)

could be a number of things. i suggest getting it checked out at the dealer, but check those things too.

hope that helps
Jeff
