Blown engine expiriences?

Like the title says, if you have any blown engine stories you would like to share, feel free to post them up. More importantly, try to list why. No limitations on engines.

The only engine I have ever fried was a 5hp Briggs and Stratton on my go-kart. Oil starvation and it just got slower and slower for 1min and just stopped.

Re: Blown engine expiriences?

i blew my ka. Not enough oil i guess. My car had a bit of an oil leak. I swore there was enough in there though, i think it was just its time maybe. It had 160,xxx miles. I was on my way home from hockey practice. Blew a piston out of the side of my block. So now i have an extra head, and upper/lower intake mani's. And various other parts. Its all good though i guess. I know there was an ok amount of oil in it. It still boggles my mind...but its old history now.

1 SR20 for me. it was either crushed rod bearings from running lean or spun bearings from oil starvation. Apparently it had been dogged pretty hard before I got it too.

fourth day I had the car at 90% thottle and 6500RPM it lost all power and when I took it out of gear it had a clacking sound. It was one of the biggest "Oh shit" feelings Ive ever had in my life.

Re: Blown engine expiriences?

Damn. Blew a piston out the side of your block? Serious detonation there. Was it a stock setup or what?

Re: Blown engine expiriences?

running my 86 turbo z hard one night, i was in 2nd with it floored, boosting 14, going about 65mph at 6k (v6) and then plumes of grey smoke out the exhaust. huge billows, it was amazing. the head gasket went. rebuilt the tophalf in my garage the following weekend, took about 24 hours total, then went out and ran it again, then it got totalled by pizza guy...

Re: Blown engine expiriences?

yes a bone stock setup.....it freaking scared the hell out of me....it looked like i just got done doing a burnout on the highway. I could stick my hand through the hole in my block. iv got a pic of it but i dont think my scanner will do justice in seeing it. THe piston just disintegrated i guess...i looked all over the highway for it lol. I dont know why there was so much smoke. But yea i was going like 75-80 then all the sudden my car started slowing down i was like wtf...so i gave a little bit more gas and then BOOOOOOOOOM!!11!!1!!!!11!! i was like o great...this is not good. 600 bux later i have a new engine and am running again.

Re: Blown engine expiriences?

Dude, unlucky..........that's like my dads friend, like 20 years ago, he spent all day washing, waxing, polishing his car and after spending about 6 hours doing that, he drives out and the garage doors let's out and comes crashing down on his hood and leaves this 3 inch deep gash across the hood. And the father of one of my dads friends when he was a kid had a car that was totalled, then then spent 6 month rebuilding the whole thing, top to bottom, 2 weeks after he's done, it get's totalled again, he rebuot it, and his son took it out for a drive and totalled it, he gave up after that and apparently was never the same.

Re: Blown engine expiriences?

whaahhaahahahahahhaa not that its funny, but you added the "apparently was never the same". Fuck thats just some serious bad luck...wow i feel bad for him. Speaking of wrecks....my bro just whiped out his hatch!!!! The hole fucking fender is hanging off, passenger headligh is done, front bumper is still usable but looks like its been through the drift olympics. The radiator is done for. So now i have to spend some time resurrecting another 240. Im going to try to buy this one at a shop thats basically a parts car. Ill offer 500. red auto hatch. strip it down, everything(and i mean EVERYthing) thats usable atleast, then dump the rest in the river....lol im serious. Damn that will make 4 240s chilling in front of my house.
