Angry Check Engine Light?????

Alright I has a homemade intake that I pulled off my accord and just added more piping and connectors to make it fit my little civic. It was ducted down to where my wheel weld was because i thought i could get more air to my intake that way, but it was raining one night and my car started sputtering.....I pulled into a gas station and checked my engine and pulled off my intake and it was SOAKED!!!! So i tried to get as much water out as I could and took off the pipe that led to the wheel weld so the head of the intake could sit in my engine bay. The check engine light came on the next day (keep in mind this was in september) and now it wont go away...I had it checked a few weeks ago and he said the only thing he could find what was wrong is it needs a new computer chip (or something along those lines) but I dont think thats it. Does anyone have an idea of what could've possible happened (I.E. Water in the manifold or something) All your help would be great......

Re: Check Engine Light?????

first thing first.. check to see what code is flashing on your ecu.. that will give you a direct indication of what is causing the check engine light to come on.
And well, yeah, a computer chip if you need one will cause the engine light to come on.
Take the first step and find what code it is!!!!!

Re: Check Engine Light?????

A computer chip will NOT make the light come on. Getting water in your manifold will not make a computer "chip" go bad...that's actually funny.
First, check the code.
Then come back and tell us.

btw...it looks like you have crx fenders on ur hatch. How do you plan on fixing the lower portion of the fender where it would normally meat the crx sideskirt?

Re: Check Engine Light?????

Well i had it checked and he said it just kept blinking and blinking and didnt stop, he thought it was a code 1 and put in a new ground but that didnt help it at all, like i said i'm new to this i just wish i had more info. As far as the fender problem, i'm planning on gettin my kit soon (maybe a week or two) and the sides that i'm gettin(vader) it goes up over the empty piece and i'll jut mold the sides to the fender......

Re: Check Engine Light?????

it will always blink.. it seperates the codes by a minor quick pause inbetween the flashes.

Those fenders are wild.. different for sure.. You said a vader kit.. I have an invader kit, is it simular?

Re: Check Engine Light?????

Yea the kit should be the same, the sides are straight back then flare out....The guy who tested my car said that if I wanted I should take it to someone who deals primarily with hondas to get a better look at whats wrong......
