Possible Misfire

95 Pontiac Grand AM SE 2.3L DOHC (106k miles)

At idle the car sputters very noticeably, when driving it will either seem to go away, or hesitate a good ammount and prevent me from accelerating. Changed the plugs out and the problem persisted. Maybe its the ignition coil? (The coil itself did have some streaks of black discoloration on it, I need to look at it further.) Tomorrow I will check the vaccum lines. Any suggestions?

Re: Possible Misfire

I had the same type of problem with my 96 quad 2.4. In my case it was one of the coil packs. I was only running on 2 cylinders until it quit all together. I made the mistake of paying to have it replaced @ $250.00. I had the other pack go bad and replaced it myself @ $45.00 it was easy. Remove the top cover, then remove the ignition coil housing and replace the bad pack. Simple instructions... can get more specific if needed,
