question about Boxster and some other things

hey what's up everybody, just had some questions because some guy I know was trying to tell me that the 2002 Boxster 6 cylinder is the best engine ever made... he was saying the Boxster does 0-60 in 2.6 seconds which I found very very hard to believe, I was looking online, I found a 0-60 time of 5.2 sec and a 60 back to 0 time of 2.7, but nothing about what he was saying to me... does anybody know of maybe hooked up Boxster that does 0-60 in 2.6 seconds maybe to justify what this guy was trying to tell me a little...

also I was also browsing the web, and I saw that a stock Skyline GT-R has 277 hp and does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, is this also true then that the stock Skyline is not really a supercar it is just that the only ones that we know about in the US are the really hooked up ones with like 700 hp, etc...

if you look harder. the 276hp is just what nissan puts down soo that they won't get harrassed by the government in japan. if you look at british gt-r websites. they have dyno's of their stock GT-R's. the stop R34 was in the range of 320's. and 319ft lb of torque of believe. i also see alot of videos of people launching stock skylines from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. with 13 seconds flat quarter miles. to confirm the 0-60 in 4.7 seconds part. if you watch any BESTMOTORING international videos. they all test stock cars. and whenever they launch stock GT-R's they would get 13 flat or close to that on the quarter mile. sooo thats proof of the 4.7 second 0-60.

I just came to a idea , maybe porsche started the whole SUV thing , so then boxster won't be seen as the "slow" or "cheap" porsche... Anyway the cayenne isn't really a porshce in my eyes , it's just another VW this time with a porsche slapped over it , with some better engine , another interior finish and 30,000$ more msrp i think it will be like that...

The boxster is the slowest Porsche now - but Porsche always had a slow porsche in the past - like the 944 (non Tbo) and the 968 in the 90's.

However - all are capable of at least low 15' time to high 14's. So there is slow and slow - it's not a station wagon either ! Oups... was'nt talking to a certain White Subaru Impreza !

Wink

Well, Lets see. Last month I was looking at one of the trade rags I get and they discussed the RUF TURBO. This is a Porche this is highly customized to say the least and sells for very high dollars. It is touted as the fastest streetable Porche ever produced. 0 - 60 times were 3.6 sec and top end was 213. It is not based on a Boxter.

What's the point? The fastest street porsche btw is the dauer racing 962 Le mans with 2.7 0-100 kmh time (that should give 0-60 of around 2.5 - 2.6) and 406 kph top end (253.75 mph) We all know that the boxster is not the fastest and never will be...

Hey,

I was refering to the fact that when we say these Porsches are slow, they are not really slow as a big 70's station wagon either - since low 15' for a car that is stock is fast. Someone with a stock Civic might think otherwise that they can smoke them... But then I remember you - and you're station wagon - you seem fast if your high 14' times are real - which seem to be by the way you talk, you don't seem to talk trash - that's all !

By the way - what does your mph look like when you do high 14' ?

oh i got ya. i thought u were insulting me somehow my bad

my mph through the 1000ft is about 80, all ive done through the 1/4 mile is street racing but we have a 1/4 mile marked off accurately, and im still on stock tires so i assume my speedometer is pretty accurate and it shows about 95-96 mph through the 1/4
