CD Receiver issues

I drive a '98 Sunfire and i'm looking for a new cd receiver for my car on crutchfield. I narrowed it down to two different receivers. The problem is crutchfield says that one of them will not fit my car, and the other will protrude from the dash by 1". Is there anyway that I can modify the cd player housing bracket in my car so that either one of these cd receivers will fit without protrude from the dash?

Re: CD Receiver issues

There is a metal bracket behind the factory radio that you can remove to get yourself some more depth so that you can flush-mount aftermarket HUs. There are three 9/32 bolts holding it in, one right behind the radio, one on the lower-left hand side of the console, and another to the right. They should be easy to find; fine threaded, I think gold or copper in color. Once you take those out the bracket will slide out from behind the dash. You may still need to cut some plastic out to get the radio to slide in nicely.
