3rd sub placement
ok well i got 2 kicker comp vr 12" with a coustic 401db amp...well i am going to get a kicker comp 12" and use a kicker kx120.2 well my 2 comp vr subs are in a regular box and the one i am getting i am going to put in a box for a truck and set it behind the regular box and have it face the front and keep my back seat down most of the time...does anyone have any better ideas for where to place it or would that be the best???

you could do that, or set it infront of the twin 12's. Subs like to work with echo room, sounds better in the long run. If you want to put it there, you would need to keep in anchored some how so it doesn't move. You could also place it sub side up on the back of the folded down seats.

What kind of car do you have again? I was just wondering because I think if you could angle all three in the back it would work better. But if you have an eclipse then think it would be cool to face it up. maybe on top of the others or set them all facing up. Tell me what you think.

Re: 3rd sub placement
You gotta keep all the subs facing the same direction or you will run into problems with the frequencies cancelling themselves. If so, you'll have to run the 3rd sub 180 degrees out of phase.
Personally, I'd build a new box with equal space for all 3

Re: 3rd sub placement
I would totally build a box for 3 12's. You could make that look cool, even though they are Kicker (not my fav). You can do a lot of stuff if you just spend the time. Don't just buy a box for 3 12's make sure they have the right airspace. That is why you should build your own, cut it right how you want it, use the right material, flush mount your amps.
You will want to do whatever you can to make those sound good too, because they really don't have and SQ worth talking about...totally an SPL sub. So, maybe seal the box, however, I am not sure if kicker recommends that or not. But if you can I would, you won't loose that much SPL if you power them properly. You will want to buy a new alternator and battery as well, especially of you are running that kinda gear.

Re: 3rd sub placement
ive been thinking of building a box but im not real good in the math area and also mdf is expensive around here...or i was about a year ago
where would be a good place to get a bigger alt. and one more thing ive heard of people filling boxes with stuffing like for a teddy bear or something...what does that do if anything i think its called polyfill |

Re: 3rd sub placement
Don't even bother. All you are doing is taking up more airspace and making the box smaller than you began with. The math part is not too hard when it comes to building a box, there are people who can help. Check out www.the12volt.com and there are airspace calculators and stuff on there.
As for an alternator, I am not totally sure where to go for a good one, I just happen to know a few people who find me deals. However, my buddy does know of a guy who can build alternators which produce full power at idle. They are a little more expensive, but they are worth it, because, how often do you show off your system when not at idle. If you want toss me an email at [email protected] and I can give you some more info if you need it.
