Would you guys say that it is worth paying for jdm enternal parts and bolt ons, or american ones.

The Jdm stuff seems to be more appealing because some companies have a reall deep history in building parts for cars like the civic.

Would you say the american made parts appeal to u the same way or perform the same as the jdm part.

I'v noticed that mugen and spoon dont make coldair intakes like AEM does. They supply better filters but nothing like AEM's sytems. It doesn't make sense because spoon and mugen dont even waste there time with those parts. Cold air intakes are just one example.

The thing is most "JDM" companies make things for road racing or like on a course.

More american companies make things for drag racing and such, like if you were to get a mugen chip or something it would modify your ecu for power needed to run on a track like road racing and say hondata here in america you can get tuned for drag racing because thats the most popular racing here I would think.

There are both american and jap companies that make great parts but some for different style of racing use or what have you.

also the way of thinking, Japanese companies think more if its not broken or if it works use it like the stock airbox system and american companies make stuff to like more power more power more power plus things that are supposed to look appealing. like intakes as you gave an example of. Also things like exhuasts like the mugen and hks systems look pretty much like stock and most american systems look way different from stock.

Theres alot of different things I could bring up but you pay for what you want or what makes the most power or whatever looks/sounds best to you.

I would think it would depend on the motor you have. If you have a JDM motor, a JDM part would perform nicer, I would think. If you had something like the k20a3, something that isn't used very much in the JDM market, a USDM part would perform better. Now if you had a k20a2, a DC5 JDM integra motor, a JDM part would suit better.

Performance is one of many things that could be looked at in the world of JDM vs. USDM. The cosmetics is another thing. JDM styling is by far different looking than the USDM stuff, that is all in just preference on what you think looks nice. Myself, I like the JDM look, but thats just me.

americans have better metals(japan has to import theirs). most japanese tuners dont really go for all-out power like americans, so of course their parts wont make as much power. theyre biased more towards engine response, etc. pretty much retaining factory-like characteristics. For instance, the K20A cams from Toda; the Spec A's were designed to make more power than the ITR's but dont sacrifice anything. Meanwhile, the Spec B, C, and N2's arent even available to the JDM market; they have much higher duration and lift, require valvetrain upgrade, and of course ECU tune.

imo, most JDM parts youre just paying for the name. there are plenty of USDM parts that can compete with JDM parts.

btw the k20a2 is the usdm type-s motor.

btw its in both the type-s rsx and the dc5 integra.

if youre talking about the Type-R, it doesnt. i dont know about the other models of the DC5s but i do know the DC5 has a K20A, no 2.
