Question Changing Headlamps on 2001 Taurus

I would like to install brighter halogen bulbs in my 2001 Taurus, but after looking under the hood, I need some suggestions on how to do it. Seems the headlamp assemblies are surrounded by engine parts and access will not be easy. How do I do this, or do I take it to a body shop or my Ford dealer?

Look in your owner's manual. The one for my '02 explains how to change all the bulbs.

Re: Changing Headlamps on 2001 Taurus

It's exceptionally easy. The headlamp ass'y held in place by one screw, and two pull-out metal tabs, all on top for easy accessibility. The top of the tabs are half-round, coated w/ black plastic, they just pull (up) right out. Once the single screw and the tabs are out, the entire lamp ass'y can be pulled out, disconnect the wire harness, and then the unit can be taken anywhere to be worked on, or to replace the bulb. Careful with the wire harness connector, the lock tab can brake off easily - especially in cold weather.
