very little heat, temp gauge doesn't move- 99 Explorer
The heater in my 99 Explorer blows cool, won't get hot and really warm up the car (it's below zero here). The temperature gauge doesn't move at all? Could it just be the thermostat? A/C works. Had my radiator flushed at the end of the summer, levels are ok.

Re: very little heat, temp gauge doesn't move- 99 Explorer
Sounds to me like the thermostat might be shot but it could also be the blend door problem with the 2nd gen explorers. Here is a site that talks about the blend door problem. I would first start with the thermostat though. http://www.blenddoorfix.netfirms.com/

Sounds like the thermostat to me! The blend door would have no effect on the temperature gauge reading staying low.

Had the exact same thing with my 96. As others said, it was the thermostat.

Thanks!
Got an appointment to get the thermostat replaced on Friday. Until then I'll bundle up.

Replaced mine myself. It wasn't hard to do on a 96 V6. Maybe yours is different. I don't remember 4 bolts. I had to remove the air cleaner ducting to get at it.
