Engine swap and tranny question.
I was wondering if it was possible to swap my old EJ22E(SOHC) for a EJ20TT(DOHC) in my 91 Legacy Wagon AWD. I dont think the cams matter I was just pasting from a engine site. The EJ20TT(DOHC) is from a 95-99 car thats what throws me. I was looking for a replacement and I saw on http://www.nippon-motors.com the price is the same for each. I think the hp on the ej22e is 140 or near that and I think I remember reading that the hp on the ej20tt is about 280hp. Oh I forgot to mention my car is RHD I think its some old postal car. I read somewhere on a old forum that I cant find that the turbos get in the way of the steering column in the LHD making the swap impossible. And last I want to know if anyone knows of a cheaper place to get a transmission for a 91 legacy .

Re: Engine swap and tranny question.
The engine should fit in your car perfectly! You are right about the LHD having trouble with the twin turbo's, but I imagine the RHD dont have that problem. I dont know about the transmission though.

Thanks. Will the engine use the same transmission? Also do you know of anyone that has done this before or perhaps know of a subaru engine swap website with or without photos?

Re: Engine swap and tranny question.
