Need a whole new door for my 98 GJC
I need to replace my drivers side door, does anyone have any experience with this??? The sheet metal on my door is cracked where my locking mechanism is and my door is also misaligned. This is causing my car to act wacky because my door switch is not fully engaged so the alarm will go off at times when I'm not in it and my dome lights stay on and my doors constantly try to relock themselves as I'm driving. I want to try and replace it myself with a salvaged door if I can find one, any special tricks I should know about??

My Grand cracked in the same place. No need for a New Door just weld, tig or mig the cracks. Also you can use a cheater plate or washers if nothing else placed over the cracks. As for the door being misaligned it is most probaly the hinge pins and bushings $26 from the dealer. Have to remove the door and grind one end of the hinge pins to knock them out. When installing the new pins you will have to spot weld one end of the pins or pein them to keep them from comming out. A lot cheaper than buying a new door. Bought one for my XJ rear for 150 due to a careless driver. A ZJ front would have to be more Iam sure.
